The First Dance At Your Wedding Reception

Wedding Reception First Dance

This is a traditional first dance performed by the bridal couple, and signifies their first dance together.

During the first dance, your MC will first announce the bridal party to join the wedding couple on the dance floor.

The MC will then wait briefly, and announce the parents of the bridal couple to join the wedding party on the dance floor.

Finally after another brief wait, the MC will announce that all guests and their partners can also join the dance floor. This moment also opens the dance floor for the evening.

This is the second of the two major events during your wedding reception celebration, and the entertainment you have chosen, should have the ability to perform the first dance.

However, there are many instances where the bridal couple have choreographed a dance to a particular version of a song or piece of music, so in this instance it may be more plausible for the entertainment to play a CD or tape.

In recent times, the music for the bridal waltz has become extremely varied, but most importantly the music should have some symbolic meaning to the bridal couple, for example: a song that reminds the couple of when they met, or a song that reminds them of an event that they have enjoyed together.

There is a range of other options available when it comes to the first dance, which includes father / daughter dances, mother / son dances etc.

Once again, the wedding DJ you hired should understand the meaning and relevance of your first dance. The music volume should increase at this stage of the celebrations, as things get ready to shift into top gear.
